Edge Of Eternity is an action-roleplaying game created by Midgar Studio. This game takes players into a fantasy world, plunged into an endless cataclysmic war. You will take on the role of a young soldier who will embark on a journey to change the fate of your world forever.
Edge Of Eternity comes with gameplay similar to any RPG. You kill enemies, and you gain experience and resources. The overall aesthetic and tone are also like the typical JRPGs back in the day. Although, there is an extensive crafting system and a long story arc to keep players sucked in.
What is Edge Of Eternity?
In Edge Of Eternity, you will follow Daryon and Selene as they embark on a quest to find the cure for the mysterious illness that turns all living forms into all kinds of misshapen abominations. The game is your typical RPG with a turn-based combat system. This time, however, the camera takes center stage. Players can switch between an overhead and a more dynamic camera mode.
The new camera system also allows players to see the whole battlefield and be objective in their decisions. Although, the entire campaign will be the same as other RPGs. However, it will have a semi-open world format for its level design with various dungeons that players can go to. Players can also enjoy the interaction between characters. You can even tame a cat and ride it around.
Graphics-wise, Edge Of Eternity boasts a polished art style that shows its JRPG inspiration. Every terrain shows off a vibrantly colored and distinct look. There are numerous levels worthy of screenshots and fan-art projects. The main characters also have a bit of an anime aesthetic. The sound design also has a few good beats. Although, there is some aspect of the soundtrack that sounds too generic.
Is the game worth it?
Overall, Edge Of Eternity is worth looking into if you want a new JRPG-like game to play. It provides a very typical experience for players. So, if you are an avid RPG gamer, you wouldn't need any learning curve. However, it does offer something new, such as a new camera system that aids you during battles. Although, some players will find the story and mechanics minimalist and uninspired.
